Hannah Sturtevant wins the 2016 Crypticon Seattle Makeup Contest

The Crypticon Seattle Makeup is returning for its 8th year in 2017! The competition features 5 artists applying makeup before a live audience at the convention. All artists have access to a professional stage makeup kit supplied by Kryolan Professional Make-up, along with a limited supply of items from the contest pantry. Prior to the contest our competitors receive a briefing of the competition as well as the theme for this year’s contest. Our 2016 contest theme was “Cap’n Crunch and Zombie Pirates of the High Seas”- artists had to construct a zombie pirate using makeup and breakfast cereal after an hour of preparation.

At the end of two hours, the artists’ creations will be judged by a panel of industry professionals on technique, design, artistic creativity and originality, and adherence to theme. The 2017 competition is now open and we’ll accept competition entries until March 13th, 2017. Thank you for your interest in the 2017 Makeup Contest. ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED. See you next year!

The Grand Prize for 2017 is a Professional Makeup Kit from Kryolan Professional Make-up; a year subscription to Stan Winston School of Character Arts – with unlimited access to online web-tutorials; and a year’s subscription and 2 tickets to IMATS Vancouver (October 2017) courtesy of Make-Up Artist magazine.
